Sponsor a Refugee Home!

Mission International partners with REMA Ministries in Burundi to provide homes for returning refugees:

Refugees are returning to Burundi in huge numbers, their 'temporary' homes in Tanzania, DR Congo and Uganda are now being cleared and food aid and education withdrawn making it impossible for them to stay. The picture in Burundi, now their only option for a future, is not bright either. Many are returning with what they stand up in with no resources to begin again. Mission International along with out mission partners in Burundi, Rema Ministries, are seeking many ways to help support the returnees, helping them to make a new start. One of the ways to help uprooted and homeless people to make a new start is to provide them with a new home.

£2000 for a new family home:
For £2000 Mission International can provide a simple home for those who are returning from exile. Their place of belonging can be made secure and they can become a strong and productive member of the community when they have a place to stay.

Bricks are often made by burning them with wood, these 'fired' bricks are then used to build homes. Mission International uses a revolutionary system of compressed blocks which does not use any timber, thus saving the local and national environment. It takes upwards of 5 tonnes of timber to make 1 tonne of bricks.

Bricks can be transported in all sorts of ways, here a refugee pastor transports a few bricks at a time on his bike.

A simple home is begun.
